Sending a copyright notice
Please send a notice containing:
- Your physical or electronic signature as the copyright owner or someone authorized to act for that owner.
- Identification of the copyrighted work you believe is infringed. For multiple works on this site, provide a representative list.
- Identification of the material you want removed or disabled and enough information for us to locate it, preferably the exact page URL and relevant title or file description.
- Contact information sufficient for us to reach you, including your address, telephone number, and email address if available.
- A statement that you believe in good faith that the disputed use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
- A statement that the notice is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that you are authorized to act for the owner of the exclusive right allegedly infringed.
Consider whether the use is authorized by law, including fair use, before sending a notice. Knowingly misrepresenting infringement or mistaken removal can result in liability under applicable law.
How we respond
We review copyright notices and act expeditiously to remove or disable access to material when required by the applicable notice-and-takedown process. We take reasonable steps to notify the person who supplied the material. We may request information needed to identify the work or locate the material.
If your material was removed by mistake
You may send a counter-notice to the contact above if you believe your material was removed or disabled because of a mistake or misidentification. Include:
- Your physical or electronic signature.
- Identification of the removed material and its location before removal.
- A statement under penalty of perjury that you believe in good faith that removal or disabling resulted from a mistake or misidentification.
- Your name, address, and telephone number; a statement consenting to the jurisdiction of the federal district court for the judicial district where your address is located, or, if outside the United States, any judicial district where the service provider may be found; and a statement that you will accept service of process from the original notice sender or that person’s agent.
We send a copy of a qualifying counter-notice to the original notice sender and inform them that we will restore access in 10 business days. We restore the material no earlier than 10 and no later than 14 business days after receiving the counter-notice unless our designated agent receives notice that the claimant has filed a court action seeking to restrain the subscriber’s infringing activity relating to that material on our service. Separate violations of our community terms may still require separate moderation action.
Repeat infringement
We terminate, in appropriate circumstances, the accounts of users who repeatedly infringe copyright. We may also restrict uploads or other access while reviewing infringement concerns. We consider the relevant circumstances, including valid notices, counter-notices, retractions, and court outcomes. We accommodate and do not interfere with standard technical measures as defined by 17 U.S.C. § 512(i).
Privacy of notices
We may share notices and related identifying information with the affected uploader or claimant as needed to handle the dispute or comply with law. Counter-notices are forwarded to the original claimant. Do not include passwords, payment-card details, Social Security numbers, or unrelated sensitive information. We retain relevant records as reasonably needed for handling claims, legal obligations, and repeat-infringer enforcement.
